The popular image features a gray cat with a striped tail walking on a flight of stairs surrounded by concrete walls on both sides.
From one perspective, it appears that the cat is slowly walking down the steps as it stares down the camera lens placed below. However, another perspective makes it seem like the cat is climbing up the stairs with the photographer taking the image from above.
The picture, which was posted anonymously on Imgur on Monday, has racked thousands of views. However, the image went totally viral after it was shared on 9Gag.com and The Daily Mail.
"Weak. Obviously down," one person wrote on Imgur.
"It's clearly up, you just have to imagine the camera in a different angle," another person wrote on 9Gag.
